Remembering Great Grampa

How many pages have I accomplished for Great Gramma do you ask? A whole 2 pages! I am so lazy...I am wondering where all my motivation has gone? or maybe my mojo is gone? Great right when I need it! One of the pages is really sentimental so it counts as more. It is from back in 2001 or 2002 when DS Great Grampa was still alive and he got to spend time with him. Mind you for some reason the scan did not turn out the best!

The journaling reads: How lucky is trevor to have met his Great Grampa! Many children don't get that chance and here is Trevor spending quality time being just like Great Grampa!

PP: Crate Paper

Twill: Bobbin Ribbon from Michaels

Brads: Making Memories

My second layout is a layout of Treovr with his Great Gramma Summer of 2006 (i think)! Trevor loved Thomas the Tank Engine and he could tell you all the engines names and he made sure that you knew them all too. Here he is Teaching his Great Gramma Thomas.

I can't remember all the products used for this layout as I started this layout quite awhile ago and finished it tonight. So I kind of cheated. I totally love the Colorbok letters and my Xyron, how easy is it to do a title? No journaling on this one as the title says it all!

Off to do some challenges tonight!

Wreathabella - A Christmasabella

Another new Bella! They just keep coming and coming! That is good for all us Bella Addicts. I personally love my Bellas! How about you? Now how cute is Wreathabella? By the time I can make an order there are going to be so many new ones I am not going to know which ones I am going to want! Thank goodness my LSS Urban Trends carries Bellas so usually it makes it easier on me and I buy what Teresa has in stock :) But I am hoping she will get this one in! I am sure it will be there! Well I have 6 days to work on some 6 x 6 pages for Great Grammas 80th Bday album. Off to get something accomplished!

Happy Holidays Pocket Card

Well I was brilliant and went and signed myself up for a pocket card swap on Splitcoaststampers and I had never even done a pocket card before! Not one of my smartest moves in my life. So yesterday while at my mothers, mmmmm waiting for the yummyest dinner, I took some scrap stuff. Trevor and Bill watched Zoom, Mom made dinner and I fingured out how to make a pocket card. I had a little help, I had a print out of the tutorial from Splitcoaststampers. Believe it or not there is no stamping at all on the card! Mom doesn't like me stamping at her house, I once dropped a black Staz On ink pad face down on her white carpet! Ooops! Anyhow so I got the base part of my pocket card made, ate my awesome dinner, finished watching Zoom and then was too tired to finish the card! So this morning I got up to finish the card, so proud I could do it I didn't want to screw up on my stamping so it looks pretty plain. So after that long story here it is!

I think it looks pretty darn cute for my first try ever! And like I said I left it simple as I didn't want to ruin it if I screwed up stamping on it.

Playing with CosmaBella

I had some free time to waste, when really I should be working on my swaps! I started playing with my Cosmobella. Originally I was going to start a card for Caardvarks but I didn't like how it was turning out so I started going a different way. Have you ever made a card and totally didn't know if you liked it? That is how I feel about this one. I mean yes it IS a Bella car and all but still, I am not sure I like it.

What do you ladies think? It seems to be missing something...maybe some primas up in the corner or something? I don't know....Aaarrrghhh...I am stumped.

Well I am off to start some of my swaps then take Taylor to her dads....ahhh some peace and quiet....I will check in with you later.

Thanks in advance for the ideas!

Another Great Card Sketch Site

I just cannot believe how many great blogs there are that have awesome sketches on them. I know that sometimes I need to get my mojo going, especially if I have made a couple cards in one day! So I was blogging away and I came across a link to Sketch This: Cards! Now I am thinking that this blog is the bomb as it shows the sketch then it show a couple of cards designed with that sketch. What a great way to get your mojo going? So if you are a card maker I would encourage you to stop on over to Sketch This: Cards! for the sketch this week #23 and try it out.

A Stamp Set I Own But Never Used!

I was reading away the other night....(I was up until 5am) and I came across a post on Splitcoststampers asking something to the effect of how many stamps do you own but have never used. I looked for the post but couldn't find it. (If I do I will give you the link!) So that got me to thinking, I have tonnes of stamps and I just started card making...it was the challenges that stared the card making. Off to the stack of stamps I have to find a set that I had not used. I came across Stampin' Up's All Wrapped up set. When I saw it I just knew I had to have it. It is adorable.

Now how cute is that?

So this is what I came up with.

PP: Chatterbox

Cardstock: The Paper Company

Ink: Basic Back, Pumpkin Pie, Going Gray, and Brocade Blue

Stamps: SU (All Wrapped Up), Technique Tuesday (Words We Love)

Staedler Coloured Pencils

Raffia

So that is one less stamp set that I can say now that I haven't use....hehehe hopefully I will be using alot more as I embark more and more into the cardmaking world. I have been entering more and more challenges too.

Wish Me Luck!

Ever Seen A Spinner Card?

I have only seen one before this one and this is definately by far the neatest thing I have ever seen in card making so far! Ashley Bowen's Bella Suspension Card is perfect! What is even a bonus is Ashley is using 6 Bella's! With these 6 Bella's she picked the perfect sentiment too. I totally believe that this card is truly Yummy! You too can learn how to create a suspension card like this with the tutorial that is on Splitcoaststampers. You can find the tutorial here. So I you feel brave enough or would really like to challenge yourself you should give it a try, I know I will be. It will have to be when the kids are not home and I have alot of patience. From what Ashley' card shows the time and patience really does pay off! Thank you Ashley for showing everyone your great card.

Paper Cuts

Blog...blog...blog that is all I do! I was wondering around the blogging world and I come across this wonderful blog called Paper Cuts. They have challenges, give-a-ways, great cards, great ideas and some great designs. I would urge you all to check out the blog and leave them some luvin' too!

Journaling Tips #1

1. For a pet page, do your journaling in a dog bone shape for a dog or in a mouse shape for a cat. Or make a diecut in those shapes big enough to hold a photo or two or do your journaling on the diecut shape.

2. Trace a child's hand or foot print and fill the inside with facts about the child. A neat little way to journal.

3. The best way to journal is with your own handwriting. Remember that as long as your handwriting is legible, it will be appreciated by future generations. If you really hate to use your own handwriting to journal, use clear labels. Pick a font that matches layout and journal away. Fit all on label and then print it. Because the labels are clear, they let background paper or designs show through.

4. An option to keep your journalling straight is to draw your own faint pencil lines with a ruler and journal with acid-free pens. When you are finished journalling and the ink has had a chance to dry, erase the lines.

Back in the Day

Whew....what a long day! Did I happen to mention that there is 21 more days until the kids have to go back to school? So to try and keep my mind off the fighting children I starting cleaning and sorting through some of my scrap/card stuff. I came across some of my first cards I made.

This is the first card I ever designed myself....thoughts and everything using my own noggin'. pretting good eh?

This is the first card that I ever sold. I designed this one all by myself too! I love the stamps. I got them from Clear Dollar Stamps. On the inside it says "...to a Dinomite Kid" I just love it.

I would encourage you all to check out Clear Dollar Stamps as they are great acrylic stamps at great prices.

I would like to just remind everone of the little contest here on Ramblings of a Paperholic. 23 Days and Counting....

....until the kids go back to school. Oh man, I am telling you now...2 months is way to long. Trevor and Taylor can love each other one minute and hate each other the next minute. It was quite a nice day out today and both found something that interested them equally and played outside together! What a relief! They dug out all the remote control cars and decided to kill the batteries on them.

What Kind of Pet Would You Be?

So....what kind of pet would you be? I took the quiz and this is what the results ended up for me.

You Would Be a Pet Cat

Independent and aloof, you don't like to be dependent on anyone.

And as for other people, you can take them or leave them. You often don't care.

You live your life by your own rules. And you have deep motivations that no one truly understands.

Why you would make a great pet: You're not needy or greedy... unlike other four legged friends.

Why you would make a bad pet: You're not exactly running down to greet people at the door

What you would love about being a cat: Agility and freedom

What you would hate about being a cat: Being treated like a dog by clueless humans

Finished My Summertime Tags

Well, I have finished my Sumemrtime tags and I am actually quite proud of them. Trevor helped out alot! He cut them all and he thought of the idea to stamp the sun on off of them. If you look closely at them you will see that I put glitter around the sun and on top of the bottom ribbon. I hope the girls over @ Swapheaven like the tags. I made a couple extra just in case I messed them up too. It is amazing sometimes what I can do when I put my mind to it! Check them out!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Now, I have to start my B&W Bella Swap! What a great way for me to get some extra Bella images right now. The only thing was I had to go out and buy some black Staz On. I had any other kind of ink but that.

While we were in Michaels Trevor wanted something, I thought I was doing good saving 40% with my coupon. Of course, he wanted something totally messy. Floam! OMG! Has anyone out there actually been crazy enough to buy that stuff? Never again! It was on the carpet, all over Trevor, all over my bathroom, all over me, all over the kitchen and .....it never even did what it was supposed to do. What a complete waste of money.

Trevor is getting so bored it is unbelievable...I am getting behind on my challenges over at Creative Crafts & Stickers and I want to pack up my swaps, pack up some ebay stuff. Arrrgggghh, frustrating. We are going to pick up Taylor in about 15 minutes so hopefully Trevor will have someone to play with....or for that matter fight with. Wish me luck on that one. If I get a headache it is not like I will be able to lie done. I do live in the famous home of the Abbotsford Airshow. All the airplanes are coming in.

It will be loud around here until the end of the 12th! Us people that live in Abbotsford hate it! People don't watch where they drive, people don't know where they are driving and it is way to busy! I have lived in Abbotsford all my life so this is nothing new.

Let's see...whoever emails me @ the_queen_of_scrap@telus.net with an event that happens in their city/town with the link to verify it will be entered into a draw to recieve a RAK worth Approx. $10.00 from me. This contest will be open until August 31, 2007.

Wow I Summer's Coolest Coolest Chick Challenge Over @ Creative Crafts & Stickers

Lotsa of stuff going on today! I want to get right dont to scrappin' and poor darling Trevor is so bored. Maybe I will get his scrappin' stuff out for him and get him to make a page for his book. I am so happy that summer is over half way over for the kids!

First exciting news! Over at Creative Crafts and Stickers there is a awesome new contest going one!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Second exciting news, well for me is there is a new Bella Stamp! It is Bella's Rose Tree Border. How cute is that? All of the Bella's are awesome. But I really like this border stamp for some reason. I guess because it is very versatile.

Last but not least there is a new challenge over at Caardvarks . It is sponsored by the Angel Company! Woo hoo. I am definately going to try this one! I am going to very busy in these next couple of days! Create a card using 1 embellishment (Nathalia's screaming, "NO!!!!!!" Can you hear her?), 2 patterned papers, and 3 flowers. Show us what you can do! (Oh, and do it by August 16th - post a link to your card(s) in the comments section of this post - we'll add them to the 1-2-3 Gallery.) It doesn't sound to hard does it? Simple is my middle name.

Well fellow Scrappers, wish me luck!

Good Morning All

Wow...it has been a whole week without my little Trevor! I am going to pick him up today! I think it has been a little to quiet around here without him.

Today I am going to be working on a Summer Tag Swap. I actually went out yesterday and bought a tag die for the Sizzix. The good old Sizzix. Believe it or not Sizzix is coming out with new dies! Now I am glad I never got rid of mine! Back to the Tag Swap it is for my yahoo group Swapheaven . If you like Swaps and from Canada this is the group for you. I am fairly new to this group but I do enjoy swaps here and there. I will post my tags on here when I am finished to see what you think.

The Book of Me Challenge for August in Creative Crafts and Stickers is a hard one. Had I Known Then What I Know Now...., wow there is a lot that I wish I had known then that I know know. I will be thinking hard about this one. The catch for this one is we have to use 2 photos, but remember this is a book about us.

Well that's all for now, I will check in later tonight after a day with Trevor and maybe I get some scrappin' done!

Tales of a New Blogger

Well I have finally entered the world of blogging. Why not ? I think it is a case of everyone's doing it! Since I am new at this some of you will have to have some patience with how my blog will look for a bit. We all have to learn some time.

Now, about my blog! It will about my paper creations, my kids and about daily life. How about that! I will be constantly keeping up on here as I have alot of time on my hands lately.

Please feel free to comment, I enjoy it!

Well I will see you for now, as I want to try and figure out how this thing works!
